Welcome to my blog posts, where I muse about everything from what I am reading to life in my small town. Your feedback is welcome, but may be ignored.

October 7, 2026–A big thank you!

This past Sunday, October 4th, we launched The King of Clemens at a great event in Amesville, the little town that time forgot and the ages continue to improve upon. Sixty some folks showed up, politely let me read a chapter, and then got down to the more serious business of eating and drinking.

There are a lot of folks to thank for this event. First, Eric and Grace, proprietors of the Amesville Diner and Smokehouse who laid out a great spread. It was so appropriate to hold this event in a diner, as much of the action in the novel takes place in a diner! And to be in my town of Amesville, which, if you know it, you may see Clemens resembles, with my neighbors made it all the better. (By the way, I highly recommend the Smokehouse’s home smoked pastrami sandwich and leave room for a slice of Grandma’s chocolate cake.)

A shout out to my publisher, Gina McKnight with Monday Creek Publishing. Gina’s press hits way above its weight, giving local authors, poets, and artists an outlet for their outstanding work. I am proud to be represented by her. And a tip of the ink pen to Keith Wilde, my friend and a terrific artist who designed the book’s cover.

Of course I am honored that so many of the good folks of Amesville and Athens County joined us for the affair. Local Amesville authors were well represented with Mike Ford, John Thorndike, and Erica Magnus all in attendance. What a great crew.

If you weren’t able to attend, don’t dispair. I can often be found in the diner, enjoying the food and the company. If you are ever in Amesville, stop by and pull up a chair.
